(peri)menopause mentoring

In a world where menopause is seen as a condition and something to ‘fix’, where do we go to explore the deeper meaning behind the changes and possible challenges we’re experiencing – emotionally, spiritually and physically – so that we can feel empowered to rise up to meet them?

Perhaps your body is starting to signal changes and you want to prepare yourself for what’s ahead or maybe you are deep in the underbelly of menopause, feeling head below water and not sure where to turn.

You might have a hunch that it’s not about going back to the way things were, an inner knowing that life as it was no longer fits, but you still feel overwhelmed and alone in this uncharted territory?

That’s where I come in.

I want to offer you a gentle, compassionate and nurturing space for you to slow down, reconnect with yourself and with the deeper intelligence at work so that you can embrace this transition as an opportunity for the powerful transformation it can be.

Yes… transformation!  There is so much gold awaiting us when we listen to what this time is calling for and follow our body’s guidance.

Since beginning my journey of womb initiation in 2016, I’ve spoken with hundreds of women walking a similar path. I’ve had the honour of founding and leading two international communities rooted in menstrual cycle awareness, and through this, I’ve come to understand the power – and necessity – of trusting the wisdom of the female body.

My approach is:

Relational

Even if we’re exploring things you’d like to change, we let go of the need to ‘fix’ and honour that it’s by ‘being with‘ that real change is possible. This is the Feminine way! This doesn’t rule out very practical steps, tools and strategies you can take away to support yourself.

Embodied

While the mind loves to ‘understand,’ and insight (especially having a seasonal framework around menopause) is useful, I want to support you to tap into and trust the wisdom that’s in your body.

Intimate

My work centres the importance of our relationship being founded on honesty and transparency. I believe in the simplicity of shared vulnerability between humans in a safe space as a powerful healing force.

Collaborative

While I’m here to guide and support you, the work we do is a collaboration between us, where you are encouraged to take responsibility for where it feels valuable to go.

Seasons-based

My understanding of menopause is through the lens of inner seasons and it being a time of inner Autumn and Winter (which you might have other metaphors for, depending on where you come from). If you’re still cycling, learning to embrace the inner seasons of your cycle is powerful preparation.

Systemic

I don’t see you as an isolated individual but part of a larger, entangled web of relationships, cycles, systems and histories that you’re held in. I see the work we do together as embodied activism, supporting a culture that respects and brings dignity to the menopause process.

A bit more about me:

I came to study the female body and her initiatory nature, following my curiosity in what a Feminine approach to leadership might be. How do I feel in connection with my power – that looks different from examples of power and leadership that I see in the world around me?

It made sense to me to look within and access the gateway of my own body. This led me to certify in Menstruality Leadership, which explores the psycho-spiritual aspects of the womb, from menarche (when we first start to bleed) through to menopause and use my own womb cycles to explore my access to a Feminine power.

Despite being a qualified yoga teacher, I realised through practicing Menstrual Cycle Awareness (tracking my cycle daily so I could discern the energies, gifts and challenges unique to each day), how disconnected from my body I actually was and the trauma I had accumulated.

What followed was years of being ‘worked’ by my cycle, learning how to honour and take care of myself in each phase, finding the gifts in my challenging pre-menstrual phase, taking a good hard look at my relationship to slowing down and in resting during my bleed and peeling away layers of conditioning around valuing doing over being.

In short, it’s been nearly ten years of what I see as embodied activism: owning what our body actually needs in this linear, man-made world, where its wisdom –  especially that of the female body and its cyclicality – is so repressed. This is bringing balance back into a world that so desperately needs it.

My womb has been one of my greatest teachers in learning how to integrate the many polarities, archetypes, and energies that live within me. It’s shown me that wholeness isn’t about choosing one part over another, but about creating space for the full spectrum to coexist and inform one another. We can be delicate and fierce, introverted and extroverted, witch and maiden, shadow-dweller and light-bringer, wild storm and still water. These inner opposites create the complexity that makes us whole.

In late 2023 I received the guidance to move. As soon as I signed the contract to sell my house, I stopped bleeding – as though my body knew that something else was needed to hold me in this process. I realized that all the cycle tracking I had done was preparing me for the big descent of menopause, where I currently reside, taking each day as it comes, getting a degree in slowing down and allowing myself to not know what comes next!
